There are weekends when the mind quietly longs for peace — a place filled with greenery, cool wind, soft light, and the calming sounds of nature.
For me, forests have always felt like a natural escape from the rush of everyday life.

Recently, I explored a beautiful hidden nature spot called Abhayaranyam, located just around 10 km from Kalady in Kerala. Surrounded by greenery and peaceful forest atmosphere, this place felt refreshing from the very first step.

Abhayaranyam is located near the village of Kodanad, a place well known for its historic elephant training center. As soon as I entered the trail, the sounds of the forest slowly took over — rustling leaves, birds calling from deep within the trees, and the soothing flow of a nearby river.

One of the most beautiful parts of this place is the river flowing beside the forest trail. The sound of water blending with the sounds of nature creates an atmosphere that feels deeply calming and immersive.

The trail here is short and easy, making it perfect for a soft trekking experience suitable for families, nature lovers, and casual travelers. The entire route is filled with greenery, fresh air, and peaceful surroundings.

At the end of the trail, there is a beautiful children’s park, making the destination even more family-friendly. Abhayaranyam is also home to elephants, a deer park, and several native species of birds that add life and beauty to the forest ecosystem.

During this trip, I captured most of the visuals using my Realme smartphone, trying to preserve the natural essence of the forest through cinematic shots and ambient sounds.

Abhayaranyam offers beautiful natural lighting, especially during the early morning hours. The soft sunlight filtering through the trees creates a cinematic atmosphere perfect for nature photography and videos.

The river side, forest trail, elephant area, and greenery-filled pathways provide excellent opportunities for mobile photography as well.

Most of the visuals in my cinematic video were captured using a smartphone, proving that beautiful stories can still be told without expensive gear.
